Overview
Coupons are codes renters type at checkout under Have a promo code?, or that your team adds to a booking's invoice. Each is a percentage or a flat amount off, and you choose which parts of the bill it discounts.
Extras are things renters can add to a trip, like a child seat, a cooler or prepaid fuel, charged per rental or per day. They're set up once for the company, and each car chooses which ones it offers.
Protection plans are your own cover products, sold at checkout. A plan is one the renter picks; an add-on stacks on top of any plan. RentHive sells them for you but isn't an insurer: you price them and honor them.

Best practices
- Give each partner or campaign its own code, so you can see which ones bring bookings.
- Use First booking only for welcome offers, and Limit total uses for one-off promotions.
- Describe each protection plan in plain words under What it covers, and link to the full terms.
- Price a plan at $0 with a link if you'd rather send renters to an outside provider to buy cover. It shows as Included.
Good to know
- Coupons can't be limited to certain cars or a minimum trip length.
- Coupons don't discount booking fees or location prices.
- If a booking changes, a percentage coupon is worked out again on the new price.
- Removing an extra happens straight away, with no confirmation. Bookings that already have it keep it.
- Protection plans are your own products. RentHive isn't an insurer and doesn't provide coverage.
What runs on its own
- Codes are checked by the server at checkout: expired, paused, used-up and first-booking-only codes are refused.
- A coupon's use is counted once per booking, and given back if the booking is cancelled or the coupon is removed.
- A new car offers every active extra.
- Each booking keeps the extras and protection it was sold with, at the price it was sold at.
Questions
Can renters stack two coupons?
No. A booking takes one coupon.
Can renters add more than one of an extra?
Yes. On your website they pick a quantity, from 1 to 9.
Do protection plans apply to every car?
Yes. Plans and add-ons are company-wide and offered on every car.
What happens to bookings if I remove a plan?
Nothing. Bookings that already bought it keep it, at the price they paid.
