Good to know

ID checks run on your own Stripe account, and Stripe bills you for them. You turn them on by pasting a restricted key from your Stripe dashboard.
Insurance checks use credits: 5 free, then $2 per completed check.
RentHive isn't an insurer and provides no coverage. It checks the renter's own policy; any protection plans you sell are yours to back.

How are renters' IDs checked?+

With Stripe Identity: the renter photographs their driver's license and takes a selfie, and Stripe checks both. The checks run on your own Stripe account, so Stripe bills you for them directly.

How is insurance checked?+

Through Canopy Connect: the renter links their own auto insurer and the policy is pulled in live. Each completed check uses one credit; you start with 5 free, then credits are $2 each.

What happens if a check fails?+

The renter isn't stuck. They type in the details, photograph the document and can still sign. You're flagged to review it, and the booking is never marked “verified” on the strength of what they typed.

Can I verify additional drivers?+

Yes. Add them to the booking and each driver goes through their own ID check.

Where in checkout do the checks happen?+

You choose. Set the ID check and the insurance check to come before or after payment. Signing the agreement always comes last.

Does RentHive provide insurance?+

No. RentHive isn't an insurer and doesn't provide coverage. It checks the renter's own policy, and if you offer protection plans you can sell them at checkout; the coverage behind them is yours to arrange.
