Pricing, discounts & tax profiles

How to set base rates, length-of-stay discounts, and tax profiles, and when to use company defaults vs. overrides.

6 min read

Overview

Pricing starts with a base daily rate per vehicle, layered with optional weekly and monthly discount tiers. Tax is handled through tax profiles, each with one or more nested tax rates, that can be set as your company default or assigned individually per vehicle.

The pattern across all of this is the same: set a sensible company-wide default once, then override at the vehicle level only when a specific vehicle genuinely needs something different.

Set your daily rate and discount tiers per vehicle.

How it works

  1. 1

    Set a base rate

Every vehicle has its own daily rate as the foundation of its pricing.

  2. 2

    Enable discount tiers

Turn on 3, 7, and 30-day discount percentages to reward longer bookings.

  3. 3

    Create a tax profile

Build a tax profile with one or more nested rates, percentage or fixed, applied per-day or per-trip.

  4. 4

    Set your default

Mark one tax profile as your company default so new vehicles inherit it automatically.

  5. 5

    Override where needed

Assign a specific tax profile or discount tier to an individual vehicle when it needs different terms.

Best practices

  • Set your company-wide defaults first, then override at the vehicle level only when a specific vehicle genuinely needs different terms.
  • Revisit your discount tiers periodically, a 30-day discount that's too shallow won't meaningfully move longer bookings.

Things to keep in mind

  • A tax profile's rate structure can't be deleted while it's still referenced by active bookings or assigned vehicles.
  • Only one tax profile can be marked default at a time, setting a new default automatically un-defaults whichever was previous.

What's automated

  • Length-of-stay discounts apply automatically once a booking's duration crosses the 3, 7, or 30-day threshold you've set.
  • Tax is calculated automatically on top of the discounted rate and any cleaning fee, based on the vehicle's assigned tax profile.

Common questions

Can I set different discount percentages for different vehicles?

Yes, each vehicle can use your company default discount tiers or its own specific percentages, toggle between the two with the use company defaults switch.

What if a booking crosses a discount threshold after it's already been made?

Pricing recalculates automatically whenever a booking's dates change, so extending a trip past a 7 or 30-day threshold applies the appropriate discount.
