Commission on direct bookings
Our story.
The problem
In 2019, our founders were running a small fleet of Teslas on Turo out of Austin, Texas. Business was steady, but the math got harder to ignore every month: somewhere between 15 and 25 percent of every trip went straight to the marketplace before it was ever seen. Worse, the guest relationship belonged to Turo too. Every message thread, every repeat booking, every contact detail lived inside a platform they didn’t control and could lose access to overnight.
Building the first version
The goal was never to build software. It was to let repeat guests book directly, without handing over a cut of every trip. The first version of RentHive was a single embeddable widget, put together over a few weekends, that let a guest search dates and book straight from a one-page site built for that one fleet. It worked. Repeat guests started booking direct within weeks, and word made its way to a few other hosts in the same local Turo host groups.
“We didn’t want to run a tech company. We wanted to keep the guests we’d already built relationships with, without paying a marketplace for the privilege every single time.”
RentHive, Founding team
Growing with our hosts
By 2020 there was a handful of hosts using it. By 2021, a hundred. Every feature after that came from a real request, not a roadmap dreamed up in a conference room: a calendar that actually synced with Turo so nobody double-booked a car, a shared inbox once hosts were juggling five different channels at once, guest ID and insurance verification once hosts started asking how to screen guests the way a marketplace did. By 2023, enough Canadian hosts had asked for RentHive that expanding north of the border stopped being a question of if.
Where we are now
Today, more than 500 independent fleet hosts across the US and Canada run their business on RentHive, from a single car to fleets pushing fifty vehicles. Calendar, guest messaging, verification, payments, and reporting all live in one place, with nothing taken off the top of a direct booking. The team is still small, and still talks to hosts directly, because that’s the only way any of this got built in the first place.

What we believe.
Hosts keep what they earn
Direct bookings shouldn't cost a commission. We charge one flat subscription, nothing else.
Built by hosts, for hosts
We started as Turo hosts ourselves. Every feature comes from a real problem we've run into.
No lock-in, ever
Your guests, your data, your fleet. Leave whenever you want, with everything you came with.
Direct relationships matter
A guest who books direct is your guest, not a marketplace's. We build for that relationship.
